Lancaster Daily Princess Pamela Kindig Receives A Hearty Wdeome BY SUZANNE KEENE LANCASTER Many of Lan caster County’s former dairy princesses were on hand to congratulate the newly-crowned' 1986-87 county dairy princess Pamela Kindig last Saturday evening. Pamela, the 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Kindig, Conestoga, received her crown during the annual pageant at the Farm and Home Center. In honor of the 50th anniversary celebration of June Dairy Month, 17 of the county’s past princesses were welcomed to the stage, where each lighted a candle on a giant birthday cake. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the new princess ignited the remaining candle on ity v jry lights a candle on the cake as part of the county's celebration of the SOth anniversary of June Dairy Month. JBQ 'JL leasing 9 /O RATES lo* 6 /ft P>\ AUGERS aFs ajp CALL NOW the top layer of the cake. “This is such an honor for me,” Pamela said soon after receiving her crown. “Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be in this position.” In the coming year, Pamela will represent the county’s dairymen at promotional events, in classrooms and shopping malls. She will also compete for the State Dairy Princess title this fall. “I want to do the best I per sonally can do,” Pamela said of her goals for the coming year. A junior, at Penn Manor High School, Pamela plans to enroll in college and study the physical sciences. National Honor Society and is on the student council. Pamela also plays field hockey, basketball and is on the swim team. She is an assistant leader in the 4-H photography project and enjoys playing the piano and photography. Her family has 55 milking Holsteins. Pamela will be assisted in her promotional activities by alternate princesses Lorn Rutt and Mary Witmer. First alternate Lorn is the 16- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rutt of Quarryville. Lorri also received an award fnr Divine the outstanding presentation. For her presentation, Lorri appeared on stage as the Statue of Liberty, who explained that her body was deteriorated and took much effort to repair. However, she told the audience, humans can more easily maintain their healthy bodies by eating right and in cluding dairy products in their diets. Mary Witmer, the second alternate, is the 20-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Witmer, Willow Street.
