BY BETSY STITT Blair County Correspondent LOYSBURG - Heidi O’Neal of Saxton was crowned Bedford County Dairy Princess June 20 during the annual pageant at Northern Bedford High School. Heidi, the daughter of David and Donna O’Neal, received her crown from last year’s princess Shawnee Yothers. She is a 1966 graduate of Tussey Mt. High School, where she is a member of the Prom Com mittee, Varsity Club, Student Council, yearbook staff and Drama Club. She is also class vice-president, a football cheerleader, homecoming queen, a Red Cross volunteer, and a member of the 4-H. In addition, Heidi plays softball, won the DAR Award, and was 1965 Saxton Volunteer Fire Queen and 1985 Huntingdon Fire Queen. She is a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Heidi plans to attend Lock Haven University to study physical education and health. During the pageant, contestants were asked questions to test their knowledge of the dairy industry. Heidi was asked: “What is osteoporosis and how can it be prevented?” Heidi explained that osteoporosis is the brittle bone disease. To prevent the disease, Heidi said dairy products should be included in the diet. Contestants were also required to present a skit. Tammy is the daughter of Richard and Joanne Seese. She is a 1986 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, a member of the National Honor Society, Jr. Executive Committee, yearbook staff, Who’s Who in American High School- Seniors, and a Special Olympics helper. In addition, Tammy has helped with Christmas meals for the needy and was a representative to the Pennsylvania Association of Farmers Coop Leadership Con ference. She participated in the 1985 REA Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., and is a member of the 4-H dairy club. Tammy plans to become a nurse. Janele is the daughter of John and Nancy Crawford. She attends Bedford High School, where she is active in band, SAAB, Prom Committee and cheerleading. She is also a member of the Pennwood Bible Church, youth group and church choir. She plans to attend college after high school. Janele was named Miss Congeniality. The annual pageant included a “Parade of Future Dairy Prin cesses” of 14 little princesses.
