TROY - “Milk - America’s
Favorite Health Drink” is the
theme of the 1986 Bradford County
Dairy Festival which will be held
on May 24th in Troy. The day
begins at 11 a.m. with a large
parade featuring the dairy prin
cess contestants.
The afternoon will be filled with
activities such as milking contest,
guess the weight of the cow con
test, cow calling contest, milk
relay, ice cream feeding contest,
hay rolling contest, pedal tractor
race, and a dairy bowl quiz.
The highlight of the day will be

Three to Compete for Bradford County Dairy Princess Title
the crowning of the new Bradford
County Dairy Princess by the
current dairy princess, Melissa
Wilcox. The pageant begins at 8:15
p.m. in the Troy High School
auditorium.
Three contestants will compete
for the title. They are Shelly
Brown, Karen Cole, and Yonna
Taylor.
Shelly Brown is the 17-year-old
daughter of Larry and Lois Brown
of Rome. A student at Northeast
High School, Shelley is a wrestling
manager, secretary of Senior
FHA, and a SADD representative.
Shelley is also a volunteer at the

Columbia Cross Roads. She at
tends Troy Area High School,
where she is a member of the
Cobblestones, chorus, cross
country team, and the track team.

Karen is a member of 4-H where
she participates in showing her
dairy animals. Her hobbies include
running, playing piano, and
singing.
Her future plans include college
where she plans to major in vocal
music or fashion merchandising.
The Cole family crops 250 acres
and milks 97 Brown Swiss.
Yonna Taylor is the 17-year-old
daughter of Duane and JanNeita
Taylor of Canton.
A student at Canton Area High
School, she is a member of the

National Honor Society, chorus,
and treasurer of -senior high
student council. She also twirls
rifle in Canton Marching Warriors.
Yonna is a member of 4-H where
she participates in showing horses.
Her hobbies include reading, arts
and crafts, horse back riding, ice
skating, and swimming.
After graduation Yonna plans to
attend Milligan College, Term, or
Messiah College to study
elementary education.
