the Willow Street Vo-Tech School.
The evening offered an op
portunity to recognize those
students who have excelled in
projects and competition
throughout the year.
Marylin Thode received the
Greenhand Degree and 11 other
FFA’ers earned Chapter Farmer
Degrees. They are: Tammy
Bresch, Aimee Cloud, Sherri Frey,
Julie Haldeman, James Hess Jr.,
Cindy House, Jody Lentz, Lisa
McManus, Nancy Nissley,
Christina Quigley and Kerry Ross.
Those students receiving
Foundation Awards were Michael
Clark, agriculture mechanics;
Whitney Eckman, agriculture
sales and/or service; Sherri Frey,
chapter star agribusinessman;
Lisa McManus, nursery
operations; Robert Shaffer, turf
and landscape management; Tina
Gentzler, public speaking; James
Hess, chapter star farmer; Kelly
Rhoads, home and/or farmstead
improvement; Tammy Bresch,
placement in agricultural
production; Karen Frank,
floriculture; and Debra High,
ornamental horticulture.

Sherri Frey was awarded the
DeKalb award and Mrs. Doris
Kudia was named honorary
chapter farmer.
Other awards presented went to
those students who placed in
national contests. They are: Karen
Frank, Barb Kudia, Sherri Frey
The top three winners in the County FFA Nursery Land
scape Contest are, from left, Jim Hess, second; Sherri Frey,
third; and Tammy Bresch, first. Jim was also named Chapter
Star Farmer and Sherri was named Chapter Star
;ribusinessman and received the DeKalb Award. In addition
her first place in the Nursery Landscape Contest, Tammy
tceived her Chapter Farmer Degree and a Foundation
<ard for placement in agricultural production.

Awards were also presented to
the top 10 winners in the county
FFA Nursery Landscape Contest.

Christina Quigley, Kerry Ross,
Lisa McManus, Debra May High
and Jody Lentz.
Elco Dairy
4-H Club
The Elco Dairy 4-H Club met
April 25 at Christ Lutheran Church
for a project book workshop. Each
of the older members brought
completed project books from
previous years to share with new
and younger members.
Several members participated in
dairy judging at Penn State and
Delaware Valley College.
Stephanie Wagner reported on the
Penn State judging and Adam
Sonnen on Delaware Valley. Becky
Sonnen reported on the Oral
Reasons Workshop held in March
at Levitz Park.
Duane and Deanette Nolt gave a
demonstration on “Making a
Delicious Dessert with Dairy
Foods.”
The next meeting will be held at
Nolt’s farm May 30; showmanship
demonstrations will be presented.
