We had a rainy and stormy night and now I’ll have some extra work to drag the limbs away. Then I got to thinking about what else I wanted to accomplish today and I realized that my happiest days are usually the busiest ones. Recently I saw a very different cake recipe and I wanted to try it for dinner. Also, I really should make a trip to the grocery store. Then there is the braided rug waiting to be laced. By chance, I finally found the package of Sweet Pea seed that I’d been hunting for days. It had gotten lost in the shuffle of having house guests over Eastertime. However, I fear the ground is too wet to plant anything today. Yesterday was spent at our church sewing for the Needlework Guild. This group of women make “new” garments which are distributed annually to needy people. Some women cut out patterns for dresses, skirts and blouses; others use the sewing machine. I am the one who puts the finishing touches on the garments such as buttons, hooks and eyes, and the hemming of dresses. There is a job for all kinds of skills. Our church has quite recently started a social group for the “over 40’s,” and they tell us that we don’t need to show a birth certificate. The first meeting was a covered dish meal and a musical program. Next months’ will be a “silent auction” and I’ll have to find something to take maybe in the attic.
