THE VKON SYSTEM MAKE IT WORK FORM Sometimes it seems we spend half our lives fighting the system. But there’s one system that’s always on your side—the Vicon Haying System With a Vicon KM Mower/ Conditioner, one of our high ca pacity V-Kakes, and a new Vicon round baler, you can make hay faster, better and more economically. The KM 321, for instance, is the fastest mower/conditioner in the world. It’s 30 percent faster than conventional mower/ conditioners. A new drive unit lets you operate non-stop. Take square comers without drive line vibration or danger of failure. And even if i you have a heavy, I dew wet crop, the KM 321 won’t plug, and won’t leave you worrying about leaf loss. If you’re making big round bales, VICON FARM MACHINERY. INC.. PO. Box 6313. Chesapeake. VA 23323 804/485-1600 yielding small grain production. Andy Anderson, marketing manager of Tye, says that because ICM combines the latest technology in intelligent management practices, new seed varieties, fertility and chemical programs, water management and precision seeding equipment, “Intelligent” Cereal Management is a better name for the new system. For some time Tye has been working with the leading ICM growers in the USA and Canada to develop a new drill system that meets their specifications. From this research, Tye has developed the Series Five family that features precision, Ultranarrow 4” row ICM planting. The Tye Grain Drills are new from the ground up. Tye engineers started by developing a new in ternal, 9-flute seeder with a sim ple, reliable rate adjustment to gently and accurately meter seed. Next they incorporated a heavy duty row unit to accommodate Ultranarrow 4” ICM row spacings. The row unit is made of narrow vee double disc openers, quick change double-sealed bearings, individual press wheels, and a long 8” stagger between rows. Farmers have f choice of 2 x 13 or 1 x 12 press wheels with simple, accurate depth control ad justment. Row units are bolted to a heavy duty 7x7 tubular main frame. Tye ICM drills also feature a simple drive system and a 2.0 bu/ft box with easy clean-out. The the next step is a Vicon V-Rake, Eight or ten-wheel models provide a worlang width of up to 22 ft. Rake quickly and cleanly on the first pass. Pick up more hay with less dirt and trash. And the fmgerwheels are ground driven to elimi nate wearing parts. No gears. No belts. No PTO shafts. Finaljy, try one of Vicon’s new round balers. The easiest starting round balers in the world. They give you a tighter, heavier, more consistent bale. Time after time. The secret is Vicon’s revolutionary design combining a full-width floating pick-up with a wide-open throat. The result—more bales per hour and lower oper ating costs. LOUIS - The Board of Directors of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) voted for a unanimous reaf firmation of its support for the nation’s fuel ethanol program at its recent Board meeting in Washington, D.C. “In noting the welcome relief and favorable economic forecasts resulting from declining crude oil, gasoline and heating oil prices, NCGA Directors from 17 states expressed concern that the current energy market decline may en courage policy complacency with regard to long-term energy supply and security,” says Dain Friend, NCGA president from Warren sburg, Illinois. The U.S. is even more vulnerable today in that we consume 25% of the world’s oil production but the U.S. holds only 4% of the proven oil reserves. “Against this backdrop, the U.S. fuel ethanol industry supplied 7% of all motor fuels utilized in 1965. This volume of fuel was produced in the U.S. utilizing 240 million bushels of U.S. com as the feed stock, representing a 40% volume increase over 1964. This resulted in a savings of approximately 8 million barrels of crude oil imports valued at approximately $2OO million. “In light of this performance, the NCGA recognizes the increasing value and importance of continued fuel ethanol production increases for the benefit of U.S. consumers, the general economy and U.S. agriculture,” says Friend.
