Summer award trips are being planned for Great Adventure in July and deep sea fishing in Delaware in August. Chapter officers, are: president, Alex Smith; president elect, Dennis Bair; vice president, Dave Firestone; secretary, Tyia Strauss; treasurer, Sean Seemer; reporter, Dan Martin; sentinel, Jamie Adams; chaplain, Dale Kreider; student advisor, Brian Bylery. Princep Prowl GSI FEED BINS From Ton To 150 Ton Rick Hicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hicks of R 2 Elverson and a tenth grade student at Twin Valley High School, was the winner of the recent FFA creed speaking contest held by Twin Valley FFA. Rick is a first-year member of the FFA chapter a greenhand. The creed speaking contest was open to only those first year members greenhands in 9th and 10th grades. Rick had previously won the creed speaking contest at the Eastern Pennsylvania FFA Leadership Conference at the Pocono Environmental Education Center in October. He also was one of the chapter members who exhibited sheep at the Penn sylvania farm show. Other participants in the local contest were B.J Cylcewski, For Valentine’s And Every Day Of The Year.. The FFA creed was written in 1930 by Mr. E.M. Tiffany and revised in 1965. It is a five paragraph expression of what FFA members believe in and try to practice through their chapter and individual activities. As the local contest winner Rick will receive a free FFA jacket. He, as well as the other local contest participants, will also compete in the Berks County FFA creed speaking contest on Feb. 24. The top county winners will advance to tri-county competition, then to Eastern Pennsylvania com petition, and finally to the state contest. The state winner receives a free trip to the national FFA convention in Kansas City, Mo. next November.
