Registration for the Pork Bowl gets underway at 9:30 a.m., with the competition beginning at 10:30 in Room E of the Penn Harris. Show and freezing weather notwithstanding, more than 200 of the state’s cattlemen are expected to convene at the AUenberry Resort in Boiling Springs on Friday for the three-day Penn sylvania Cattlemen’s Conference and Spring Fling. Registration begins at 11 a.m. on Feb. 21, with tha conference’s first speaker, Penn State economist, H. Louis Moore, kicking off afternoon sessions at 1:15. Friday’s schedule comes to a climax at 7 p.m., with the Annual Cattlemen’s Banquet, featuring nationally known cartoonist Jerry Palen. The association will also name three top individuals for their annual awards in three categories: commercial cat tleman, seedstock producer and cattle industry award. Also highlighting the banquet will be the announcement of the Pennsylvania Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 15,1M6-A2l Cartoonist Jerry Palen, author of “Stampede" will be the featured speaker at the Cattlemen’s Conference's banquet on Friday. Cattlemen’s Queen for 1986. Saturday’s events include two concurrent sessions tailored to the purebred or commercial cowman, and cattle feeders and buyers. A keynote address will be delivered at Saturday’s luncheon by National Cattlemen’s Association president Jo Ann Smith. Following a beef promotion update at 1:45 p.m., concurrent sessions on microcomputers and hedging will be conducted, with purebred association meetings scheduled for the same time. The meeting will adjourn on Sunday morning following Cat tlemen’s Association and Beef Council directors meetings. Registrations will be accepted until Feb. 19 for the conference. The Maryland State Holstein Convention and Sale actually runs simultaneously with the Penn sylvania Convention. This Con vention opens Friday with the annual business meeting and awards. This is followed by speaker Dr. Francis H. Fox, DVM Cornell University, who will cover the topic of Johne’s disease. The banquet is on the evening’s agenda which is followed by the calf raffle drawing. The Convention concludes on Saturday with the annual Maryland Convention Sale held at the Hagerstown Speedway Exhibition Hall, Hagerstown.
