Distinguished Junior Member scrapbooks will be there, along with a milk promotion idea booth and a display of farm brochures. The Junior Holstein convention will open with the Dairy Bowl competition. If your county team hasn’t been entered yet, contact the state holstem office for an entry form (814) 234- 0364. There will be junior and senior division competition. The Penn State & West Virginia University's dairy science club’s will be running the contest. The finals will be held at 1:30 p.m. today. 10 A.M Ladies committee handmade crafts display and sale. Ladies Program will begin with a food preparation demon stration by Byron Bardy, a chef from H.J. Heinz. Byron is one of fifteen master chefs in the U.S. and has been m Heinz gravy ads. He will prepare several recipes and then give the ladies an opportunity to sample the dishes. Ample time will be given for questions and autographs. 10 A.M 11 A.M Following the program a salad luncheon will be served in the Sheraton’s Rivers Edge Restaurant (Cost $lO/person). State Board of Directors meeting. 11A.M 11A.M Mall promotion will begin at the Station Square freight house shops and run through Sat. afternoon. Nutrition Exhibit; a dairy quiz board, educational osteoporosis exhibit, a calf and a dairy product demonstration. 2-4:30 P.M Guided Tour of Pittsburgh which will include stops at Mount Washington, Heinz Chapel, The University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning, The PPG Place, and The Buhl Planetarium to see the miniature railroad show, (Cost $7/person). 2:30-4:30 P.M. Junior's Mock Sale will be conducted by Mike Wiemer & Jay Howes. Juniors will be taught how to read pedigrees, buying techniques and cattle values. Prizes will be awarded for the “Best Purchase " 5-6:30 P.M Pre-Sale Buffet, this will be a roast top sirloin beef, ham & chicken buffet. Other Restaurants are available in the Station Square area for you to choose from (Cost $lB/person). Convention Ballroom Sale, the cattle vyill be housed in the Sheraton’s parking garage just a few steps from the lobby. The sale cattle can be seen anytime on Thursday. A slide presen tation will be shown by Ron Buffington, HlO Inc., prior to the start of the sale, and a quilt made by the Somerset Ladies will be auctioned off. 7P.M 10 P.M.-l A.M. Riverboard Cruise - Immediately following the sale the Gateway Clipper partylmer will embark on a cruise on Pittsburgh’s three rivers. The boat is docked outside Sheraton. Once on board, round and square dance will commence with “Hezzy Reese and the Circle Four.” (Cost $5/person). Pizza and pool party for juniors. It will be held on Feb. 20 to the 22 at the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square. Co Chairman John and Judy Grice, Washington, and the con vention committee have planned a schedule that is certain to appeal to everyone. This year things are slightly different from previous years, so as to give you more fun and relaxation time. This year’s convention will be held on different days of the week. By having it on Friday and Saturday the committee was able to secure the best room rates. This also allows the juniors to attend with a minimal amount of lost school time. The convention opens on Thursday, Feb. 20 with an informal welcome reception at 10 p.m. Here you’ll be able to meet with some of the committee who have worked to put the convention together.
