Jackie Sparling Jackie Sparling, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sparling, Mansfield. A student at Mansfield Junior/Senior High School, she has been a member of the Mansfield FFA Chapter for four years. Jackie has taken the dairy herd project with a herd consisting of 10 Holkein dairy cows, six Holstein heifers, one Jersey heifer and two Holstein bulls. She holds the Greenhand, Chapter Farmer and County Farmer degrees and has been a member of several committees. Jackie has won numerous awards with her dairy cattle, in cluding master fitter and showman at Northeast FFA Districts and Pa. State Junior Dairy Show; first place junior calf and junior yearling at Northest FFA Districts; third place junior yearling at the Pa. State Junior Dairy Show and grand champion bull at Northeast Districts in 1963. Jackie plans to major in dairy production at Penn State or Alfred University, then continue in dairy farming. Union County David Anthony Dietrich David Anthony Dietrich, 17, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Dietrich, Mifflinburg. A student at Mifflinburg Area High School, David has been a member of the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter for four years. David has completed projects in market lambs, sheep breeding, dairy herd, alfalfa, corn and oats. He has served his chapter as sentinel, chaplain and assistant treasurer and has been SUN Area treasurer. He received a bronze award at the State FFA Project Book Contest. David plans to attend college and return to the farm. James V. Fischer James F. Fischer, 17, is the son of Roy D. and Phyllis Fischer, McDonald. A student at Fort Cherry High School, James has been a member of the H.G. Parkinson, Fort Cherry FFA Chapter for three and a half years. His projects have included home garden, hunting dog, muskrat trapping and Ginseng growing. He has been chairman of the Public Relations and State and National Activities Committees. James placed first in the county and area Public Speaking Con tests. He was fourth in the regional Creed Contest and second in the chapter contest. He has attended the Washington Conference Program and the National Convention. James would like to get a job with the Soil Conservation Service or further his education in agriculture. David A. Gessner David A. Gessner, 17, is the son of Earl W. Gessner, Lewisburg. A student at Mifflinburg High School, he has been a member of the Mifflinburg FFA Chapter for three and a half years. David has completed projects in dairy heifer operation, swine finishing and pleasure horse. He is president of his FFA chapter and is a past chapter reporter. He holds the Greenhand, Chapter Farmer and Area degrees. David plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in dairy production at Penn State and then manage his own dairy operation.
