Adams County Steve Daron Steve Daron, the son of Mrs. Betty Daron and Mr. Larry E. Daron Sr., Gettysburg, is a 1984 graduate of Biglerville High School. During his five years of mem bership in the Apple City FFA Chapter, he served as chapter vice president and received an agribusinessman proficiency award. He also attended the state and area leadership training con ferences. Steve took the home garden project for a year and gained work experience under three different employers. He was chairman of the Fair Booth Exhibit Committee, and served on the Community Service, Earnings, Saving and Investment, and Field Crop Committees. In the future, Steve would like to become a quality mechanic and operate his own business. Joseph A. Graft Joseph A.' Graft, the son of James and Janet Graft, New Oxford, has been a member of the Conewago FFA Chapter for three and a half years. During that time he has served as secretary, committee chairman and class representative. He also received the chapter Foundation Award and the Adams County degree. His FFA activities have included work experience, county and state contests and membership in the Community and Scholarship Committees. In the future, Joesph would like to be a herdsman for a large dairy operation. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, trapping and sports. Daniel E. Graft The son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Graft, Hanover, Daniel Graft is in his fourth year of FPA activities. As a member of the Conewago FFA Chapter, Daniel has served as sentinel, committee chairman and class representative. He has received the chapter Foundation Award and the Adams County degree. His activities have included beef finishing, work experience, county and state contests, public speaking and membership in various committees. Daniel enjoys sports, hunting and trapping, and plans to become a game warden. FayE.Lobaogta Fay E. Lobaugh, the daughter of Blanche and Guy Lobaugh, Aspers, has been a member of the Apple City FFA Chapter for four years. A student at Biglerville High School, she has worked on a dairy farm for the past three years. Fay has served on a number of committees and has served her chapter as vice president and reporter. She was also the county FFA secretary. She received the county Star Greenhand Award and attended the area and state Leadership Training Conferences. She was a member of the second place Keystone Livestock Judging Contest team in IMS and of the sixth-place team at the All American Dairy Judging Contest. She received a third and a sixth place in the State FFA Agronomy Contest. Fay is a National Institute of Cooperative Education Award winner and was a top test score winner in the Pa. Association of Fanner Cooperatives. She was also a state scholar winner at the Washington Leadership FFA Conference and an SEA Washington Youtb Tour winne'r. She has raised four dairy animals for three years and has Pennsylvania salutes its Keystone Farmers worked on a dairy farm for the past three years. She served as chairman of the Recreation Committee and as a member of the Public Relations, Cooperative Activities and Fair Booth Com mittees. In the future, Fay would like to work on a dairy farm. A four-year-member of the Apple City FFA Chapter, Kay E. Lobaugh, Aspers, is the daughter of Blanche and Guy Lobaugh. Kay, a student at Biglerville High School, has served her FFA chapter as president and treasurer, a position she also filled at the county'level. She was a Star Greenhand and earned a seventh and a 12th place in the Pa. FFA State Agronomy Contest. Kay was an REA Washington Youth Tout winner and a member of the top FFA knowledge team for two years. She was a member of this year’s second place team in the Keystone Livestock Judging Contest and the sixth-place All American Dairy Judging Team. She has attended the area and state Leadership Training Con ferences as well as the Washington Leadership FFA Conference. Kay has served as chairman of the Conduct of Meeting Committee and has been a member of the Public Relations Fair Booth Committee. She has had five dairy animals for three years and has been working on a dairy farm. Kay would like to study agriculture in college. Samuel Redding Samuel Redding, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Redding, Parglerville, is in his fourth year of FFA with the Apple City Chapter. A student at Biglerville High School, Samuel was treasurer of his chapter for two years, and served as chairman to the overall Earning, Saving and Investment Committee. He also attended the area Leadership Training Conference and won a state bronze award for his SOEP project book. He was a member of a sixth-place All- American Dairy Judging Contest team. His FFA projects have included dairy and heifer calf, field crop, and work experience on a farm. In the future, Samuel would like to become a farmer. Norman F. Rankles Jr. Norman F. Runkles Jr., the son of Norman F. Runkles Sr. and Eleanor J. Runkles, Orrtanna, is in his fourth year of FFA mem bership with the Mason Dixon Chapter. A student at Fairfied Area High School, Norman has completed projects in beef finishing, corn production and hay harvesting. He has attended the national and state FFA Conventions. Norman has served his chapter as president, secretary and sentinel and was county sentinel. He holds the Greenhand, Chapter Farmer and Apple (county) degrees. He was a second place winner in state agronomy in 1964. A member of the National Honor Society, he plans to become an electrician. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and playing chess. James K. James enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping and sports, and would like to be a partner in his family’s swine operation. Brian P. Sanders Brian P. Sanders, 17, is the son of Donald and Linda Sanders, New Oxford. As a member of the Conewago FFA Chapter for the past three and a half years, Brian has had work experience on a dairy farm and has been a member of several committees. Brian enjoys hunting, fishing, trapping and sports and would like to own and operate his own dairy farm. James D. Schulteis Jr. James D. Schulteis Jr., the son of Mae and James Schulteis Sr., Biglerville, is the South Central Star Agribusinessman. A 1965 graduate of Biglerville High School, James has been a member of the Apple City FFA Chapter for six years. During that time he was a state winner in fruit and vegetables and won a proficiency award in production. His FFA activities have included three acres of apple trees for five years and five years of work on a local orchard, where he worked his way up to ‘assistant manager. He has served on the Earnings, Savings and Investment Com mittee and was chairman of both that committee and the Citrus Committee. He was assistant sentinel for two years. James received a first place for his SOEP Project Book at the county contest for two years and took a gold and a silver award at the state contest. He attended the area’s Leadership Training Conference and the area Fruit Judging Contest. He has attended state and county contests. Joseph enjoys hunting, fishing and sports, and would like to become a herdsman for a livestock farm. Dean Shank Dean Shank, the son of Galen and Dorothy Shank, East Berlin, has been a member of the Ber mudian FFA Chapter for four years. A student at Bermudian Springs High School, he was named chapter Star Greenhand and Star Agribusinessman. He received a chapter Wildlife Proficiency Award, and took a bronze award in the state project boric contest. He was a second-place winner in the county wildlife contest. Dean has served his FFA chapter as president and was Adams County chaplain. Dean’s FFA activities have included a project in wildlife management and membership on the Window Exhibit and BOAC Committees. He attended the National FFA Convention in 1964 and the Eastern Leadership Conference. Dean enjoys hunting, trapping and fishing and plans to attend the Mont Alto campus of Penn State to earn a two-year degree in forest technology. Jennifer K. Weimer Jennifer K. Weimer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Weimer, New Oxford, has been a member of the Conewago-New Oxford FFA Chapter for three and a half years. A student at New Oxford Senior High School, she is currently county vice president and president of her chapter. She has also served as secretary. During her years in FFA, Jen nifer has won Star Greenhand, Star Chapter Parmer, the County degree, a Production Credit Award, the Clair E. Herr Award and Foundation Awards. She participated in Food for American and served on several committees. Jennifer was a member of the dairy judging team and participated in public speaking, creed speaking, land judging and production project. Fay E. Lobaugh Samuel Redding Joseph A. Slothour She also attended the National FFA Convention. In the future, Jennifer plans to attend Penn State, where she will major in agribusiness and minor in dairy science. William C. Weller „ William C. Weller, 19, the son of Connie and Robert Weller of Arendtsville, is a freshman at Delaware Valley College, where he is majoring in horticulture, fruit production. A 1985 graduate of Biglerville High School, William has been a member of the Apple City FFA Chapter for five years. During that time he was a fruit farm employee for four years and served on the Earning, Saving and Investment Committee, which he chaired for two years. William received a first place in the county Supervised Oc cupational Experience Record Book Contest for two years and won a gold and a bronze award in the state contest. He attended the Pa. Association of Farmer Cooperatives Summer Institute in 1985, and served his chapter as sentinel and historian. William was named Star Greenhand and Star Chapter Farmer. He placed first in the area Apple Judging Contest for two years, and won the Fruit and Vegetable Proficiency Award for two years. William is a member of the horticulture club and judging team at Delaware Valley College. In the future he plans to graduate from college and become established in the fruit growing industry. Bedford County Paul N. Carbaugh Paul N. Carbaugh, 18, is the son of Allen and Donna Carbaugh, Woodbury. A student at Northern Bedford High School, Paul has been a member of the Northern Bedford FFA Chapter for four years. He has served his chapter as president, and received the Greenhand and Chapter Fanner Awards. His projects have in cluded dairy cows and beef finishing, and he has served on the Dairy Judging and livestock Committees. He was president of the Parliamentary Procedure Team. Paul is a member of the State FFA Band and the Pennsylvania All-State Lions Band. He enjoys skiing and working with com puters. j Paul says farming is in his future.
