PennAg convention speaker named EPHRATA - Dr. Vladimir Sakharov, Soviet-trained diplomat whose disillusionment with the KGB led him to become an agent for the United States, will be the banquet speaker at PennAg In dustries Association 108th Annual Convention. The convention will be held at the Seven Springs Resort, Champion, PA from September 7- 9,1986. It was Dr. Sakharov, who as a young Soviet dilpomat in Kuwait,- aided in the ousting of Societ In telligence from Egypt. Vladimir’s diplomatic and intelligence assignments put him in the heart of KGB operations in the Middle East. They included liaison with national liberation fronts, Egyptian counterintelligence, North Yemeni tribesmen, Kuwaiti youth, media, religious, and business organizations and Arab government officials. He’s also been noted for his ability to anticipate international crises. One of the first in the West to foresee Andropov’s ascendancy, Dr. Sakharov has a keen insight into Soviet long term policy ob jectives, Soviet operations abroad, guerilla training procedures, and Soviet foreign economic, political and ideological planning. Dr. Sakharov, now a U.S. citizen, holds a Ph.D. in International Relations. His specialties include inter-Arab affairs, OPEC, In ternational Law and U.S.-Soviet relations. He will be addressing the con vention on the topic, “Political Seduction, Disinformation and Conflict of Values; The Immediate Reality of U.S.-Soviet Relations.” bAs- Fertilizer...
