818-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 2,1985 at leadership Training Conference BY SUZANNE KEENE WILLOW STREET - Lancaster County FFA’ers recognized the county’s three American Farmer Degree candidates during a Leadership Training Conference at Willow Street Vo-Tech School last week. The three area farmers will receive the FFA’s highest degree during the FFA National Con vention in Kansas City, Mo. later this month. This year’s winners are Mark Frey, 22, a graduate of Pequea Valley High School; Scott Brinton, 21, a graduate of Solanco High School; and F. Mark Weber, 21, a graduate of Garden Spot High School. Also recognized during the conference were county winners at FFA Activities Week at Penn State University. Receiving recognition in the extemporaneous speaking contest were Greg Musser, Elizabethtown; Deb Martin, Penn Manor; and Barry Harnish, Lampeter Strasburg. Glenn Webber, Ephrata, was recognized for his sixth-place win in the creed contest. Dairy foods winners from the county were Sharon Zimmerman, Ephrata, Eric Herr, Lampeter-Strasburg; Allen Edgell, Penn Manor; and Nevin Ruhl, Elizabethtown. Randall Fox, Ephrata, placed third in dairy showmanship. Placing first and second con secutively in farm management were Kevin Martin and Nelson Homing, both from Elanco. Small gas engine winners from the county were Matt Pflieger, Manhiem; Chad Hollinger, Manheim; and Jerry Feister, Pequea Valley. Kenneth Nolt, Manheim, placed fourth in agricultural salesmanship. County students placing in the floriculture competition were Don Kreiner, Mt. Buds Comfy horsemen place in state shots DOYLESTOWN - Bucks County 4-H members received awards in the State 4-H Horse Show held recently at Harrisburg’s State Farm Show Complex. More than 500 contestants from most counties vied for awards. Members and their horses, all winners in county and district competition, were entered in 68 production classes and 33 per formance classes. They represent 7,100 vnnth enrolled in 4-H horse and pony program statewide. The students split into two groups for a demonstration by the Garden Spot parliamentary procedure team, which placed first last year, and for a public speaking demon stration by Ephrata High School language arts teacher Colleen Hauser.
