A26-Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, Octobar 5,1985 TIMONIUM, Md. - Maryland scored high marks in the junior heifer show, chalking up four championship wins of the seven breeds exhibited. Pennsylvania topped the Charolais and Chianina divisions, and West Virginia won the Simmental show. It was a big day for Maryland Polled Hereford exhibitors Randy and Chris Mullinix. After eight year-old Randy topped the Polled Hereford division in Thursday morning’s steer show, he and his 10-year-old brother, Chris, won reserve champion and champion honors, respectively, in the heifer show’s Polled Hereford division. Chris’ champion was MBI Mystik 438, a “Stick” daughter out of an Enforcer daughter. Randy’s reserve was Mullinix Verdi, an Enforcer 107 daughter out of a Vindicator cow. The show’s champion Angus heifer was exhibited by Mark Moxley of West Friendship Maryland. Moxley’s heifer, Summitcrest Chairlady was an April, ‘B4 daughter of Chairman that won her class at the National Junior Angus Show this year. She was also reserve champion at the Eastern Regional Angus Show in York. The reserve Angus female was Nobleland Belle 123 shown by Sharon Secrest of Caldwell, Ohio. The Pine Drive Big Sky daughter was grand champion of both junior and open competitions at the Ohio Preview Show. Champion Charolais heifer honors went to Jan Waltz of Manheim, Pa., for his July, ‘B4 female named SMR Candice 244. Sired by RCC Royal Jaguar, this heifer was first in her class at the Junior National Charolais Show held in Raleigh, NC. The reserve champion charolais was BCF Miss Vicki shown by Melanie Hemgiinger of Somerset, Pa. A senior Animal Production major at Penn State, Melanie bought her RCC Royal Con structor-sired heifer from Bratton Charolais, McVeytown. Champion Chianina honors went to another Pennsylvania exhibitor, Jamie Kohr, of York. Her heifer, Miss KF Madonna, was a Laux mont’s Firecracker daughter that was champion black female at this Maryland's Mullinix brothers, Randy (left) and Chris, took reserve and champion honors, respectively, in Polled Hereford heifer show. Top Angus heifer was shown by Maryland's Mark Moxley. Sharon Secrest, Caldwell, Ohior, had reserve. Eastern National Livestock Show Seven champions crowned in 4-H 9 FFA heifer show year’s Chianina Field Day in York. An Ohio exhibitor, Darcy Helmlinger, showed the reserve Chianina female. Her heifer, Bar E Show Girl, was a Power Play daughter out of a Simmental- Angus dam. Champion honors in the Sim mental division went to Kellee Moore of Fairmont, W. Va., for her Super Star daughter named Sprite. At reserve was FS Witch A Tall, a Supercharger daughter shown by Martha Figgins of Mt. Crawford, Va. Three Bowman brothers from West Friendship, Md., cam paigned eight heifers in the Shorthorn show, and Charles Bowman wound up on top with Progressive Snow Flake, a home raised Rexlaine Irish Progressor daughter. A Virginia exhibitor, Robin Radford, won reserve Shorthorn laurels with her July, ‘B4, female named Ben Har Augusta, sired by Ben Har Southern Major. The show’s only Limousin heifer entrant was shown by Vicki Reed of Salisbury, Md.
