A22-Uncaster Fannins, Saturday, September 28,1985 Sam Yoder retains E. National Milking Shorthorn title BY JACK HUBLEY HARRISBURG - Judge William Etgen of Blacksburg, Va., couldn’t say enough about Pinesedge Alfair Carleen. "You just look at her and you see milk,” Etgen said, after naming the eight-year-old grand champion female of the Eastern National Milking Shorthorn Show held at the All-American on Tuesday. “She’d look good no matter what color she was,” Etgen added. Owned and exhibited by veteran Milking Shorthorn breeder Sam Yoder of Pinesedge Farm, Shoemakersville, Colleen came to the All-American with an im pressive array of 1985 awards already in the trophy case. Getting an early start, she took grand champion honors at the Farm Show in January, then went all the way to the top in both the Maryland State Fair and the recent Eastern States Exposition, known as “The BigE.” “She’s been champion at all four shows she’s been to (this year),” said Yoder, adding that he con sidered himself fortunate to be able to win the All-American. “There were a lot of good cows in the show and she’s been milking since early January, so she wasn’t in full bloom.” Nevertheless, Carleen Pinesedge Alfair Carleen earned the championship trophy for Sam Yoder in the Eastern National Milking Shorthorn Show.
