ill ram New activities to highlight CREAMERY Montgomery County 4-H members are gearing up for their annual highlight of the year-the 4-H Fair. This year promises to be challenging, with a variety of new activities in which the public may participate. The fair will take place at the new Montgomery County 4-H Center, Aug. 8 to 10. The 4-H Center is located on Route 113 one mile south of Route 73 near Skippack. The public is invited and almost all events are free, with the exception of the carnival-type game booths and the small pet parade, for which there are nominal fees. Special events for this year in clude a Frisbee Dog Contest, Chicken Bar-B-Que and Celebrity Goat Milking Contest. The Frisbee Dog Contest is open to the public and will also include a demon stration and a clinic. The goat milking contest will feature local celebrities. Also on display will be farm machinery, antique autos and antique one-cycle engines. Also featured at the Fair are numerous exhibits of 4-H projects which will be on display inside the 4-H building. The projects range from clothing, foods and crafts, woodworking, vegetables, photography, rockets, nature, Old Fiddlers 9 Picnic features music , dancing , crafts COATESVILLE - The 57th Annual Chester County Old Fid dlers’ Picnic is scheduled for Aug. 10, in Hibernia Park off the Route 30 by-pass north of Coatesville. This celebration of old country music has become an established tradition. Honorary M.C. Warren Mercer has been with the picnic for over 50 years and will be back this year to share the stage with Jack Williams, Bob Quenton, and Ron McVey. TIMONIUM - Plans are un derway for the 1985 Junior Dairyman of the Year Judging Contest to be held Thursday, August 29, during the Maryland State Fair in Timonium, Maryland. Registration will be held at 8:30 a.m. with the contest starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. The contest, sponsored by Coldspring Farms, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Hoff of New Windsor, Maryland and the Eastern National Livestock Show, Inc. features a $5OO scholarship for the top individual winner. The Junior Dairyman Contest covers all aspects of the dairy industry. There are four judging classes including replacement heifers, commercial dairy cows, dairy goats and dairy steers. Competition is open to all 4-H and FFA members who have passed their 14th birthday by January 1, 1985 and must not be older than 19 as of January 1 of the current year.
