822-Lancasttr Farming, Saturday, May 4,1985 Cowanesque FFA honors outstanding members COWANESQUE - The Annual Parent-Member Banquet of the Cowanesque FFA Chapter was held recently in the high school cafeteria. Degree certificates were presented to the Greenhands, Chapter Farmers, County Far mers and State Farmers. Honorary Chapter Farmer degrees were presented to Dr. Richard Shipe, Northern Tioga School District supenndendent, and to Vincent Potocki, business and computer science teacher at Cowanesque Valley High School. The stars were presented to Ernie Bieser, Star Greenhand; Chad Griffin, Star Chapter Far mer; and Jason Williams, Star Agribusinessman. Amy Hess and Kip Adams received trophies for the FFA Creed Speaking Contest. The Chapter Scholarship Award was presented to Kip Adams and John Stierly received the Chapter Leadership medal. Phillip Davis, Elmer Hartman and Eric Sweet were recognized for having received academic letters and FFA sweaters for their scholastic excellence during the 1983-84 school year. All three were inducted into the National Honor Society. FFA Advisor Martin Heyler presented awards to Bert lanson and Mark Fay for their par ticipation in state and regional judging competition. Chad Griffin and Ed Jolly were recognized for their excellence in judging com petition on the state level. FFA Advisor Clair Zerby presented the State Proficiency Award in Soil and Water Management to Daryl Good. Daryl also received a bronze certificate for placement in the Eastern Regional competition and a check from Symond’s Ford in recognition of his accomplishments. Dick Jacobs of Gleason and Baker Equipment, presented the State Proficiency Award in Beef Production to Deborah Palmer. John Stierly received the Headwaters Outstanding Senior Ag award and a check for $lOO from Richard Hamlin. The Cowanesque Chapter was the first chapter in the state to form a Junior PCA with help from Headwaters Production Credit and Hamlin. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Heyler received the Blue and Gold Award for their many years of dedicated service to the Cowanesque FFA Chapter and all of its members. Parents awards were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stierly, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Groover, Mrs. and Mrs. Edward Jolly and Mr. Randy Fay. John Painter presented Heyler and Zerby with gift certificates to the Wagon Wheel Restaurant.
