The information is designed to reduce pig health problems in swine barns, reduce fuel costs, decrease drug usage and reduce time to market by improving existing ventilation systems and incorporating up-to-date in formation in new buildings. The all day program will include talks by a veterinarian, three pork producers, county agents and two agricultural engineers. The topics to be discussed include: the im- portance of good quality air, remodeling ventilation systems, the value of slaughter checks, why ventilation?, principles of ven tilation, air inlet and fan sizing, new heat exchanger technology, producer experiences with heat exchangers, natural ventilation design, designing ventilation systems (problem session), and trouble shooting ventilation problems. With 45 head selling, the Maryland Convention Sale averaged a pleasing $3,799 per head. The unofficial sale total reached $170,965. Also selling were 20 units of Valiant semen, 4 units of Pete, and 6 units of Elevation. The Valiant semen brought $215 per unit. During the sale, members of the Montgomery County Holstein Club were praised for their outstanding contributions to the quality sale.
