816-Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, December 15,1984 HONESDALE - The Wayne County Holstein Club Annual Meeting and Dinner was recently held at the Bethany Methodist Church Hall in Bethany. The club recognized 13 Wayne County 4-H dairy members for their accomplishments during the 1984 project year. There were four award winners m the junior Holstein milk and butterfat production contest. They included; Amy Fitze, Waymart, winner in both milk and butterfat with her two-year-old cow, “Spark- A-Lee Vincent View”; Karen Dix, Pleasant Mount, winner in both milk and butterfat with her three year-old cow, “Ellday Chief Pisces”; Dave Banicky, Thomp son, winner in milk production with his four-year-old cow, “Demont Standout Star”; and Jeannette Warring, Pleasant Mount, winner in butterfat production with her four-year-old cow, “Ellday Elevation Tabby.” All four of these 4-H members received trophy awards for their achievements and are members of the Pleasant Mount Go-Getters 4-H Club. Six members of the Wayne County 4-H dairy judging team were also recognized. They were Dean Olver, Honesdale, and a member of the Pleasant Mount Go- Getters 4-H Club; Shawn Davis, Honesdale and a member of the Calkins 4-H Ag Club; Tim Rutledge, Equinunk and a member of the Tri-Gal 4-H Club; Cliff Jones, Waymart and a member of the Kountry Kids 4-H Club; Joe Wentzell, Honesdale and a member of the Bethany 4-H Community Club; and John Zd ziarski, Waymart and a member of the Kountry Kids 4-H Club. Each received a plaque award from the Wayne County Holstein Club. The club also selected the Distinguished Senior Holstein Girl and Boy and the Distinguished Junior Holstein Girl and Boy The 4-H’ers selected were: Karen Dix, distinguished senior Holstein girl; Andrew Weist, Jr., distinguished senior Holstein boy; Dave Jonas, distinguished junior Holstein boy, and Jennifer Wetmore, distinguished junior Holstein girl. Karen Dix, the 1984 distinguished senior Holstein girl, is 17 years old and has completed rune years of 4-H project work in the Pleasant Mount Go-Getters 4-H Club. She has completed 4-H projects in 4-H dairy calves and heifers, 4-H dairy cow projects, indoor flowers, vegetable gar dening and Spanish onions. Karen has been a junior member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America for nine years and owns 15 head of registered Holsteins. Eight of these animals are of producing age. Karen has successfully shown her 4-H project animals at the Wayne County Junior Dairy Show, the Wayne County Open Dairy Show, the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair 4-H and Open Dairy Shows and the Northeast District 4-H Dairy Show. Kids with Kids Club The Berks County Kids with Kids 4-H Club elected new officers at their November meeting. Kent Fisher is president, Heath Fisher is vice president, Kirk Fisher is secretary and Mark Price is treasurer. A Christmas party will be held at the 4-H Center on Dec. 14 from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Sheep Club, Poultry Club and the Rabbit Club are invited guests. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite dessert. Gifts under $5 are to be ex changed in the following manner: male brings a gift for a male and female brings gift for a female. Adults bring gifts for adults and Wayne County She is a member of the Wayne County 4-H County Council and has helped with the Wayne County Calf Sale refreshment booth. She has held the offices of secretary, song leader and game leader in her 4-H club. Karen is currently serving as the 1984-85 Wayne County dairy princess. Karen has exhibited the grand champion Holstein at the Wayne County Junior Dairy Show and Open Show for the past two years. She is a senior student at the Forest City Regional High School where she is active in teh student council, German club, and statistician for the volleyball team. She plans a career as a Registered Nurse. Andrew Weist, Jr., 1984 distinguished senior Holstein boy, is 15 years old and is a member of the Laurella 4-H Club. Andy is a new junior member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America and owns one Registered Holstein club honors members Holstein which he exhibited at the Wayne County Junior Dairy Show and the Wayne County Dairy Show Andy has completed 4-H projects in 4-H dairy calves and heifers and also the 4-H tractor safety cer tification. At the recent Wayne County Fair he placed first in the 4- H Tractor Driving Contest and he was also a winner int he petroleum power category in the county 'Blue Forms” awards program Andy and his brother Brian hosted the 1984 Wayne County 4-H Dairy Showmanship and Fitting Demonstration at their farm in July. He is a member of the Wayne County 4-H County Council, has helped with the Wayne County Calf Sale refreshment booth and has attended the Regional 4-H Local Government Day. Jennifer’s other 4-H projects are sewing and growing Spanish onions. She is active in her 4-H club and currently serves as the game leader. She also was a recent winner in the clothing category in the county “Blue Forms” awards program. Jennifer is a 4th grade student at the Lincoln School in Honesdale. Dave Jonas, 1984 distinguished junior Holstein boy, is 12 years old and a member of the Cold Springs 4-H Ag Club. He has completed four years of 4-H dairy project work, has been a junior member ot the Holstein Friesian Association of America for three years and owns 10 head of registered Holstems. Dave has successfully shown his 4-H project animals at the Wayne County Junior Dairy Show and Open Dairy Show, at the Greene- Dreher-Sterhng Fair 4-H and Open Shows and at the Northeast District 4-H Dairy Show.
