B26—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 17,1984 BY BETH NESBIT Staff Correspondent INDIANA Indiana County 4-H dairy clubs met recently at the Graystone United Presbyterian Church in Indiana for their annual recognition banquet. After all the 4-H members and their families enjoyed a buf fetstyle dinner, introductions of representatives from the various contributors to 4-H dairy events were made. Elizabeth Mowrey, Indiana County dairy princess then had a few words to say to her fellow dairy farmers. Following Elizabeth the presentations of awards were made. Brett Brumbaugh, a representative of Milk Marketing Inc., presented Sharon Brickell, a member of the Northern Dairy Club, with the Milk Marketing Inc. Dairy Judging award Keith Ruffaner, representing Airville Community Club Airville 4-H Club had their Halloween Party on Oct. 19 at Lower Chanceford Recreation Building. Members went on a long hay ride thanks to Mr. Bill Kilgore. After the hay wagons returned, there was a Halloween costume parade with prizes awarded for the best costumes. Prizes were also awarded to the best decorated pumpkins or fall decorations. At a bonfire, members roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and enjoyed other snacks. Members drew designs for then new T-shirts. The theme for the next two years is Airville 4-H Takes You to the Top. The Airville Achievement Night was held in the Pine Grove Church Hall on Nov. 13. The 1984 County Achievement Night was held on Oct. 11 at the 4-H center. The Airville Club received the trophy for the Outstanding Club in York County for 1984. The final presentations of the evening were presented by Charles Lockhart, president of the Indiana County Dairy Herd Improvement program. Charles presented Penny Farmery with the out standing junior dairy club member award, while Jody Nesbit received the outstanding senior dairy award. A slide presentation reviewing the past year’s activities was given by Carol and Gene Schurman, county 4-H and agricultural agents respectively in Indiana County. To top the evening off two award winning demonstrations were given by Heath Winsheimer and Chris Zagronichek, both members of the Southern Dairy Club. Project books and pins were also distributed to each club member. Hutschenreuter, Citizenship. Ann is a 1984 state winner and will be attending the National 4-H Congress in Chicago this month. She was also 1984 Keystone Winner in Citizenship.
