Dairy executives named
ROSEMONT, 111. - Richard M.
Kennedy has been named director
of communications and public
relations for the United Dairy
Industry Association (UDIA),
effective Oct. 17. His respon
sibilities include implementation
of all public relations and com
munications programs designed in
cooperation with communications
personnel from UDIA member
organizations and affiliated units.
Kennedy previously served as
director of public relations and
consumer affairs for Spartan
Stores, Inc. in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, and as vice president,
account development, for Norman,
Navan, Moore & Baird, a public
relations agency also located in
Grand Rapids. He has also served
as a member of the Government
Relations Committee and Com
munications Committee for the
Food Marketing Institute (FMI) in
Washington, DC, and has served as
a member of FMl’s Consumer
Affairs Council.
A resident of Chicago, Illinois,
Kennedy has a degree in jour
nalism from Marquette Univer
sity, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

SYRACUSE - Raymond
Johnson, President of the
American Dairy Association and
Dairy Council (ADA/DC), has
announced the appointment of
Brian P. Ward as Executive Vice
President of the organization. The
announcement was made at a full
board meeting held on Oct. 30, in
Syracuse.
Mr. Ward has served as interim
manager of AD A/DC for the past
six months. He joined the
Association in 1981 as director of
the Foodservice Division.
In his new assignment, Ward will
be responsible for carrying out the
policies add programs as
designated by the ADA/DC Board
of Directors. He will oversee all
advertising and sales promotion
programs, as well as general office
operations.
Prior to joining ADA/DC, Ward
worked with Jewel Companies,
Inc. as Operations Manager. He
obtained Ids Bachelor of Business
Administration degree from
Western Michigan University in
advertising and marketing. He has
also done graduate work at In-

CARLISLE Bush Hog now
offers two models of rotary dit
chers featuring gearboxes up high
on the machine away from dirt and
mud, according to Bob Weaver of,
Carlisle, Bush Hog sales
representative for Pennsylvania
and New Jersey.
Additional shock load protection
for the gears and drive train is
provided by slip clutches.
“Bush Hog ditchers are designed
for use in flooded or poorly drained
fields-anywhere drainage is a
problem,” Weaver said. “Faster
and more economical than back
hoes, they work well in all types of
soil, in water and mud, and in
rough or uneven terrain.”
The RDSO series is equipped with
two cutting wheels to dig as deep
as 50 inches while the single
wheeled RD2O digs 20 inches deep.
The RD2O has a 540 RPM gearbox
for 50-60 horsepower tractors and
can be offset up to 22 inches from
the tractor’s center line.
