Add vanilla. Put half the batter into a greased 9”x13” pan. Make a mix of ‘/ 2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle the batter with 1 2 the amount of chocolate chips and the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Top with the remaining batter. Sprinkle the top with remaining chips and cinnamon-sugar. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Does not need frosting. Her trip to Chicago will be sponsored by the Simplicity Pattern Company, Inc. Deborah K. Klair, Hockessin, won the state’s agriculture program award. A member of the Y’s Owls 4-H Club, she is the daughter of Barbara and Richard Klair. Her trip to Chicago will be sponsored by the International Harvester Company. Dave Morneau, Newark, took the state award for his citizenship project. He is the son of Virginia and Henry Momeau and a member of the Fantastics 4-H Club. His trip to Chicago will be sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company. Debbie Taylor, Hockessin, daughter of Barbara and Dale Taylor, won top honors for her horticulture project. She is a member of the Hill-n-Dale 4-H Club. Her Chicago trip will be sponsored by the Ortho Consumer Products Division of Chevron. The purpose of 4-H projects is to build skills in specific areas of interest, increase career awareness, and develop leader ship, character, and initiative. All of the state winners have worked on their projects for several years, each year building on the past year’s achievements. During their week in Chicago, the New Castle County delegates and 1,800 others from elsewhere in the state and nation will attend meetings, hear nationally known speakers, and participate in recreational activities.
