A36—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 29,1984 Ephrata steers (Continued from Page A2O) the Pa. Angus Association’s Field Day in Centre Hall. The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Herr of Narvon, Miss Herr will have only a few days rest before fitting Boss for the Eastern National Livestock Show in Timonium, Md., beginning on Wednesday. The Garden Spot High School senior bought her show-winning 4- H project steer from Rally Farm of Millbrook, N.Y. After picking a heavyweight for top honors, judge Cheryl Fairbaim then went to a lightweight Angus- Chianina cross that proved to be “heavyweight” competition in the field of 20 entries. The Chester County extension agent picked a 980-pound steer exhibited by Emily Weaver of Ephrata as her reserve champion. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weaver bought her steer from Donnie Walter of York, and plans to be a contender at the Farm Show. A junior at Cocalico High School, Miss Weaver has been showing 4-H project steers for eight years. Though a cold ram began to fall at the conclusion of the cham pionship drive, it failed to dampen the young exhibitors’ enthusiasm during the showing and fitting competition. Margaret Herr continued her winning ways, taking top honors in senior showmanship, with Fred Weaver winning the intermediate division and Doug Hertzog being named top junior showman. In the fitting competition, Fred Weaver edged Margaret Herr for top honors, with Kristin Chupp taking the number-three spot.
