MECHANICSBURG - Over 200 4-H’ers gathered at the Cum berland Valley Middle School West last Thursday to compete for top honors at Capital Region 4-H night. Overcoming strained nerves and shakmg hands, each 4-H’er took his turn at giving his demonstration or speech - the culmination of hours and hours of planning and prac tice. When it was all over, each 4-H’er received his reward - a gold, blue, red, or white ribbon, depending on the judges’ evaluation of his demonstration or speech. Senior demonstrators who received gold and blue ribbons also received an opportunity to attend State 4-H Achievement Days at Penn State University from August 6 through 8. Those who win top honors there will advance to national com petition. The following 4-H’ers won gold ribbons for their demonstrations and are eligible to attend State Achievement Days; Danta Heine, Cumberland; Julie Hoffer, Lan caster; Ann Gurmbine, Lebanon; Joann Richel, York; and Asha Mehta, York. The following 4-H’ers received blue ribbons for their senior demonstrations: Darele Brown, Jenny Knox, Dan Wilkson, Susane Murren, and Amy Rodgers, all from Adams County. Karen Beaver from Franklin County. Ingrid Bear, Jennifer Smith and Sarah Garman from Cumberland County.
