A3B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 14,1984 York County holds 25th Livestock Judging BY JACK HUBLEY Lancaster County 4-H’ers dominated the winners circle at York County’s 4-H Livestock Judging Contest on July 5, with first-place wins in both senior and junior team competition, as well as senior and junior beef categories and the senior sheep division. The high individual scorers in both senior and junior divisions were also Lancaster Countians. Held at the George and Lois Kushner farm in Wellsville, the contest attracted 73 participants from six counties. Now in its 25th year, the contest is cosponsored by the Kushners and the Baby Beef Club. The competition involves six classes, two each of beef, sheep and swine, with senior contestants required to give oral reasons for their choices. Furnishing the livestock for this year’s judging were Mr. and Mrs. James Eisenhour providing beef animals, George Duttrey fur nishing sheep, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rutter furnishing the hog classes. Officials were Penn State animal science professor Dr. Lester Burdett, Lancaster County ex tension livestock specialist Chet Hughes and Bill Holloway, farm advisor for the Arthur Glatfelter Insurance Agency of York.
