Bl6—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 7,1984 Lebanon 4-H'ers participate in Leadership Congress STATE COLLEGE - Darnel Shiner, Myerstown, and Deb Bolles, Mt. Zion, lead activities at the 1984 Pennsylvania Leadership Congress held this week at Penn State. Over 700 4-H members from across the state were involved in leadership training in four areas- Teen-U-Lead, for 13-15 year olds; Day Camping Leadership, 15-18 year olds; Telling the 4-H Story, 15- 18 year olds; and Leadership School, 15-18 year olds. Shiner was a peer advisor in the Day Camping program. Bolles was a leader in the Teen-U-Lead program. Other Lebanon County par ticipants were: Jennifer Allwein, Angie Bollinger, Denise Long, Tncia Moyer, Sharon Wagner, Kim Zearfoss, Becky Sonnen, Barb Dickinson, Regina Roof, Jon Boyer, Joe Scharmer and Andy Smith. Also, day camp trainees: Ann Grumbine, Denise Low, Natalie Wagner, Todd Greemnger, and Damian Shiner. Story Telling participants were Sheri Pierce and Larissa Smith. One of her workshops, “The Name of the Game is Leadership,” stressed learning games that teen leaders can use in their clubs. The other, “Group Dynamite,” heightened older teens’ awareness of working with a group. 4-H leader Beth Troutman chaperoned the group 4-H is open to anyone ages 8-19, regardless of race, color, or national origin Stocky new Fords mowing, plowing . loading . The young men and women departed June 10 from Washington, O.C. for six months as participants in the program which is conducted by the National 4-H Council.
