    Chester County Sheep and Wool Growers elect officers

ATGLEN Election of officers
highlighted the second meeting of
the newly organized Chester
County Sheep and Wool Growers
Association on Thursday evening.
Held on the farm of Bill and Joan
MacCauley of Atglen, the meeting
attracted nearly 60 sheep fanciers
from around the county.
Penn State sheep specialist, Dr.
Clair Engle, began the meeting
with a seminar on market lambs.
Dr. Engle described techniques for
successful direct and ethnic
marketing, as well as commercial
marketing.
The hands-on seminar gave
participants an -opportunity to
evaluate a pen of market lambs in
terms of conformation and degree
of finish.
After the specialist’s presen
tation on grading techniques,
attendees were asked to grade
each of seven market lambs, and
results were reviewed and

miles West of Concinnatus, 18 mi. East of Cortland take Route 41

100 REG & HI GRADE CATTLE 100
The dairy consists of 80 milch cows & 18 bred heifers, (2) Reg. Service
Bulls. The cattle are in the following lactations (30) fresh cows, (20) due in
June, (16) due in July, (20) due Aug. thru Nov. calving & bal. are in various
stages of lactations. This includes the bred hfrs. The following sires were
used in this herd: Strephon, Kit Builder, Grand Fortune, Ford, Willow,
Jupiter, East Star, Elstan, Ted, Lewie, Jo-Dann Ivan, Harmony, BB
Bicken, Lee, Cockney, Halo, Aquaiious, Opportunity, & others not men
tioned. This dairy consists mostly of Ist & 2nd calf hfrs. that we raised from
the previous herd that we sold in 1962. This is a real opportunity to pur
chase good young cattle with lots of promise for the future. All cattle have
had shipping fever shots, Lepto, Blood & TB Tested ready for interstate
shipment night of sale.

sow turnips and rape into a portion
of the MacCauley sheep pasture.
Following a lamb dinner,
nominations were held,with the
membership selecting four officers
and three board members.
The organization’s officers
are: president, Annette
Menhennett, Cochranville; vice
president, David Lytle, New
London; treasurer, Tom Mc-
Caffrey, Downingtown; secretary,
Bobbie Leis, Oxford.
Board members elected were:
Gerry Williams, Parkerford,
Judith Pfeiffer, of Landenburg,
and Bill MacCauley.
