Cairns has been selected as the recipient of its 1984 scholarship of $5OO. Don is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Cairns, Sr. of Parkesburg. He is a senior at Coatesville Area Senior High and will enter Penn State in the fall. He intends to major in Ag Production. Don has a long list of achievements, both academic and extra-curricular. He is a member of the Chester County 4-H Baby Beef Club in which he has held many offices, including that of president. He was also named Outstanding Teen Leader (1981-82) in the Club. In 1982, he was a member of the Chester County Senior Livestock Judging Team which went on to become the State Judging Team. Due to a national rule which prohibits an individual from entering the same contest once on a state winning team, Don is ineligible to compete now. However, he is coaching the new county “mini” livestock judging team which is comprised of 8-12- year-olds. Don, whose parents raise Angus cattle, was also Champion In termediate Showman at the Southeast Pennsylvania District Beef Show, finished in 2nd place in the State Angus Showmanship Contest, was Honorable Mention National Angus Showman, and, in 1981 and 1983, was 6th place finisher in the State 4-H Meat Evaluation Contest.
