Pathfinder cows are selected on their outstanding production Frederick Fairgrounds hosts Colonial Charolais Riverwood Mayflower 1515, and due to calve in June to CCC Elevation’s Knockout 954. Con signed by Riverwood Farms, Circle C Charolais, Fence Post Farms and Myers Charolais Farm, the cow was purchased by Crystal and Carla Clutter, of Prosperity, for $4,000. Mayflower’s owners also con signed the second highest selling animals, FRMC Knockout 2394, a WANTED Paid top cows in Pathfinder Report ability from herds actively enrolled in the American Angus Association’s Angus Herd Im provement Records (AHIR) program. To qualify, a cow must have her first calf early, at least within 30 days of the herd average for first calving. Then the cow must maintain a regular yearly calving ! nt«*rval. She must also July, 1982, son of CCC Elevation’s Knockout, and Riverwood Bessie 394. The highest scoring gull in the sale, Knockout was sold to Double D Ranch in Coshocton, Ohio, for $3,500. Other high selling animals were : Honeybrook Sterling 402, sired by HCR Expectation Jr. 11, and consigned by Honeybrook Polled Charlais, Princeton, NJ. Paul Buosseau, Alberta, Canada, purchased % interest and possession for $2,500. MB Sir Sensation 234, sired by MB Sir Maximillian 8719, and consigned by Mary and Bob’s Farm, Hannibal, NY. In addition each calf must be evaluated with at least 10 con temporaries. Four 15-year-old cows are in- Samantha sired by Mr. Kinmont 815, and consigned by Lumber River Farms, Evergreen N.C. Purchased by Mrs. Lester Estep, Linville, Va., for $2,000. RCC Royal Heiress, sired by RCC Royal Constructor, and consigned by Royal Charolais Company, Greensburg, Pa. sold open with breeding privileges to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hickman, Waverly, W. Va., for $2,050. Paul D. Miller, of Spring Grove, was the sale’s high buyer, Pur chasing seven lots, for a total of $8,450. The sale’s 50% lots sold for $71,025, for an average of $1,406 per head. The cows who for 15 years have not made a mistake in reproduction or mothering ability are; Kildrummy of Marshall, born April 8,1968 and owned by Charles and Ruth Bryant, Riverton, Wyoming; Missie of Ames 16, born April 14, 1968 and owned by Ames Brothers, Glendive, Montana; 'Cedar Lane Blackcap, bom May 4, 1968 and owned by Fred Blades, Holliday, Missouri; and Banner Elba Hyland 831, bora June 9,1968 and owned by Hyland Angus Ranch, Fedora, South Dakota. The top Pathfinder Sire with 48 daughters listed in the 1984 report is Rito 707 of Ideal 533 70, owned by American Breeders Service Inc., De Forest, Wisconsin, and Jorgensen Ranches, Ideal, South Dakota. Next is Schearbrook Shoshone with 45, owned by Henry Leonhardt Jr. and Sons, Cowley, Wyoming, Schearbrook Angus, Clayton, Ohio, and Northcote Farm, Forest, Virginia.
