The Century Farms Program emphasizes the “pride in the contributions of these farms as a symbol to remind us of where we want to go in the future.” Governor Thornburgh has set the preser vation of family farms as a priority of his administration. To be eligible for the award, the farm must be owned by the same family for 100 consecutive years to Northeast regional organization. Though the herd’s founder recently played an active role in the formation of a full blood association at the Houston Stock Show in February, Dr. Brothers intends to scale back his activities -both organizational and professional-in an effort to devote more time to his herd.
