In a departure from recent years, the Milk Promotion Com mittee has scheduled an evening program, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to attend and refreshments will be served. To be eligible, contestants must have completed their junior year of high school and cannot reach their 22nd birthday by December 31, 1984. A contestant must be the daugher of a dairy farmer, a dairy farm manager, herdsman, or Landis Valley Associates to discuss tobacco production LANCASTER - The Landis Valley Associates will continue their study of Lancaster County industry at their April 17 meeting with a discussion about tobacco production. Arthur L. Reist, a graduate of Millersville University, will talk about “Tobacco Production of Lancaster County as a Cash Crop.” The illustrated talk will include some little known facts about the golden weed which has been a mainstay of Lancaster County since shortly after the Civil War. There will be some humorous tidbits of information which may even be shocking to our society today. Mr. Reist did graduate work in agronomy at the University of Maryland, where he specialized in tobacco breeding.
