ir Farming, Packer changes adopted WASHINGTON, D.C. Several changes in trade practice rules dealing with the marketing of livestock, poultry and meat under the Packers and Stockyards Act have been adopted, a U.S. Department of Agriculture official said today. B.H.Jones, head of USDA’s Packers and Stockyards Ad ministration, said the changes will result in clearer understanding of the rules and lessen some restrictions on business practices without decreasing the protection provided for producers and con silmers under the P&S Act. Jones said the changes include revising and con solidating eight trade practice rules con cerning the respon sibilities of market agencies selling con signed livestock and buying out of con signments into a single, simplified regulation. Other changes in clude; Removing two recordkeeping and accounting rules and revising and con solidating four others; Consolidating two rules and one policy statement authorizing the disposal of records into a single policy statement; Removing three trade practice rules involving employment restrictions, solicitation of consignments and gratuities; Revising two rules concerning settlement on actual weights and market agencies providing clearing services. irday, March 24,1984 Youth conference slated NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Cooperative Extension Service of Cook College, Rutgers University will be conducting the first con ference on the Role of Fanner Cooperatives in Our Economy, on Saturday, March 31, for FFA, 4-H members and other youth an ticipating employment in agriculture/agribusiness. Flower show to be held EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J - The New Jersey FFA will hold its annual Flower Show and Design Contest on April 6 at the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick, N.J. The Flower Show and Design Contest is open to all high school students of vocational agriculture and FFA in New Jersey. There are fifty-three different basic cooperative principles, and briefings from seven Farmer Cooperatives concerning their operation Agway, Interstate Milk Producers, Farm Credit Service, Cooperative Marketing Association, Northeast Breeders Associations and the Livestock Cooperative Auction Market. Information on PAFC and AIC Summer Institutes for additional instruction on cooperatives and comparison of cooperatives with the other forms of business en terprise will be provided. classes in which students may enter a floral design or plant arrangement. The show includes classes of shk and fresh designs of holiday, spring, wedding, and novelty arrangements. Wreaths, corsages, hanging baskets, planters and dish garden classes are included for student com petition.
