F2—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 10,1984 Twin Valley FFA honors top members with awards BY DICK ANGLESTEIN ELVERSON - A trio of “ FFA stars” at Twin Valley headed the list of chapter members who were honored for their achievements and accomplishments at the 19th '■ annual parent member awards banquet on Friday, March 2, at the high school. Star honors went to: Star Chapter Greenhand - Kevin Stoltzfus, son of Gerald and Darlene Stoltzfus, R 2 Elverson. He Was the second-place winner in the Berks County FFA creed speaking contest. Star Chapter Agribusinessman - Joe Nonnemacher, son of Henry and Judith Nonnemacher, R 1 Mohnton. Chapter treasurer, he also was the recipient of the Foundation award in nursery production. Star Chapter Farmer - Kevin Griest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Griest Jr., R 1 Honeybrook. Among his achievements were Foundation medals in the areas of ag mechanics, forest management and extemporaneous public at Twin Valley FFA banquet. National FFA officers visit A visit of National FFA officers to Pennsylvania included a few stops in Lancaster County on March 1. Among the stops were Sperry New Holland, Victor F. Among other Foundation award winners for proficiency in specific areas were; Dwight Houck, ag electrification and home inprovement; Butch Himes, ag processing; Glenn Stoltzfus, crop and dairy production and outdoor recreation; Lori Ortiz, diversified livestock; Tammy Lush, fish and wildlife management; Connie Reed and Ann Kline, floriculture; Beth Morgan, fruit and vegetable production, soil and water management. Also, Pam Waltman, horse production; Chris Coblentz, placement in ag production; Rod Stoltzfus, placement in ag production and safety; Mike Devine, poultry production; Gail Raser, sheep production; A 1 Cox, swine production; Mary Mc- Mullen, turf and landscape; and Bill Kirk, public speaking. Marberger, superintendent of the school district. Honorary Chapter Farmer Degrees were conferred upon parents of Keystone Farmers, including Mr. and Mrs. Fred McMullen, Mr. and Mrs. John Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. William Aulenbach. Honorary degrees also went to Oliver Mast, who helped with the corn test plot; Debbie Mountz, who donated a quilt as a raffle prize; William X Ash, former business manager and acting superintendent; and Renee Frederick, chaperone. Featured speaker at the banquet was Carolyn Witmer, president of the Pennsylvania FFA Association. Keystone Degree winners who were honored included Lisa Yoder, Brenda Werner, Mary McMullen, Bill Kirk, Kevin Griest and Duane Aulenbach. The chapter’s American Farmer Degree recipient, Tom Kirk, was also honored with a plaque. Kevin Kirk presented plaques to their parents for their special support and to AMERICA Please help support your high school’s Vocational Agriculture-FFA program! 59 Red Rose Degrees granted LANCASTER Lancaster County’s Red Rose Chapter of the Future Farmers of America has announced the recipients of the county Red Rose Degree, as well as the selection of this year’s county “Stars.” Star Red Rose Farmer is Fritz Frey of the Solanco FFA Chapter and the Star Red Rose Agribusinessman is Ken Nolt of the Manheim FFA Chapter. Red Rose Degree recipients from the various chapters include: Elizabethtown Greg Musser, Kenneth Ruhl, Brian Putt and Dan Hartzler. Ephrata Dale Bollinger, Clair Weaver, Dean Saylor, Kevin Horst, Jim Zimmerman, Mike Bollinger, Steve T. Fox, Brian F. Leatherly, Daniel E. Ressler and Nevin Homing. Manheim Mark Metzler, Matthew Pflieger, Russell Zellers, John honor having two sons receiving the Keystone Degreee. Also honored were Pumpkin Contest award winners, retiring chapter officers, county, area and state contest winners. Twenty-eight first-year winners received their Greenhand pins and chapter farmer pins went to six teen members. A special BOAC certificate was presented by the chapter to the Hay Creek Historical Association for the development work at Joanna Furnace.
