Georgia offers $l,OOO Avian flu reward
GAINESVILLE, Ga. Georgia
Poultry Federation is offering a
$l,OOO reward to any person who
reports information regarding the
illegal movement of live poultry or
birds into Georgia from the avian
Quarantine area expanded
HARRISBURG - The Penn
sylvania Department of
Agriculture has expanded the area
under state quarantine for avian
influenza to include all of Lebanon
County and an additional portion of
Berks County north of Interstate
Route 78 east to Route 61.
Deputy State Agriculturre
Secretary J. Luther Snyder said
the expansion would “provide a
buffer zone with natural barriers
around all known flocks infected
with lethal avian influenza.” The
quarantine expansion had been
considered after one flock was
found in Lebanon County outside
the area previously regulated by
the state.

QUARANTINE RESTRICTIONS
Pursuant to the authority granted to the Penn
sylvania Department of Agriculture by the Act of
1929 April 17 PL 533, the Act of 1913, July 22
P L 928, the Act of 1929, March 28 PL 110 and
appropriate amendments to said Acts and the
Administrative Code of 1929 April 9 PL 177 No
175 Section XVII and in conjunction with the
determination by the United States Department of
Agriculture that an emergency situation exists
(9CFR Part 81) The Pennsylvania Department of
Agriculture imposes the following quarantine and
rules and regulations to help prevent the further
spread of Avian Influenza and imposes a general
quarantine upon that portion of Pennsylvania
beginning at the intersection of Interstate Highway
81 with the Pennsylvama-Maryland State Line
then northeasterly along Interstate Highway 81 to
its intersection with the Lebanon County Line
then North and East along the Lebanon County
Line to its intersection with the Berks County Line
then East along the Berks County Line to its in
tersection with Rt 61, then South along Rt 61 to
its intersection with U S 78 then northeasterly
along Interstate Highway 78 to its intersection with
the Berks Lehigh County Line, then southeasterly
along the Berks Lehigh County Line to its in
tersection with the Berks Montgomery County
Line then southwesterly along the Berks
Montgomery County Line to its intersection with
U S Highway 422, then southeasterly along U S
Highway 422 to its intersection with PA Highway
100 then southerly along PA Highway 100 to its
intersection with PA Highway 100 then southerly
along PA Highway 100 to its intersection with the
Pennsylvania Delaware State Line then south
westerly along the Pennsylvania Delaware State
Line to its intersection with the Pennsylvania
Maryland State Line, then westerly along the
Pennsylvania Maryland State Line to its in
tersection with Interstate Highway 81
In addition to conditions imposed by the general
quarantine all flocks and premises located within
the Commonwealth known to be infected with
Avian Influenza shall be placed under special
quarantine After a special quarantine is
established, it shall be unlawful for any owner or
person without a special permit in writing from an
officer or agent of the Department of Agriculture

“We are very concerned about
Lebanon and Berks Counties follow

quarantine to regulate intrastate
movement of birds could not be
justified.”
