Tetherow served as President elect in 1983, as Treasurer in 1982, and succeeds Jim L. Nickeson of Veblen, South Dakota, in the President’s position. An outspoken advocate of per formance testing, he has served as chairman of the Association’s Performance Committee for the past three years and also chaired the Animal Health committee for one year. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Tetherow was born and raised in Cherry County, Neb., and maintains his Simmental operation near Valentine. He and his wife, Janice, are the parents of two sons, Bart and Sam, and a daughter, Nicole. In other election results an nounced during the Convention, Dr. Hugh Karsteter of Cushing, Okla , was named vice president and president-elect; Edmund Tom, Campbelltown, Texas, was elected to the post of treasurer; and Tom Stevenson, Sherwood, Maryland, and John Teagarden, LaCygne, Kansas, were named to serve on the five-member executive committee, along with the three elected offices. Two newly-elected Trustees were sworn in during the con vention. John Hewes of Woodville, Ken., and Ellie Thomas Larson of Mount Horeb, Wis., replace Nickeson and Treasurer Roy Meek, Draper, Vir., who have completed their six-year terms of eligibility on the Board of Trustees, The American Sim mental Association is governed by a 16-member Board of Trustees, four from each of four geographical regions.
