Livestock market and auction news Apple Market News Monday, Jan. 30 Report Supplied by PDA Demand today is moderate to fair and prices are remaining stable. Movement last week showed a decline in bagged apples and a good increase in traypacked apples. A representative 13 growers, packers & shippers sold 12,887 cartons of bagged apples and 9,700 cartons of traypack apples. February 1 to February 17 is the order period designated by your Apple Marketing Board for the 12/3 Polybag Promotion. The actual sale period will be Feb. 13 to Feb. 25. If you haven’t been con tacted by your chain store buyers or your broker yet, and you have 12/3 bagged apples to sell, why not pick up your phone and call them. It could be a valuable phone call for you. Remember, the Board will pay the store 25 cents per case for all orders over 50 cases. Many CA storage rooms are expected to open during the latter part of January and early February. According to a recent article in The Packer, eastern packers are optimistic about CA apples because of better apple quality, color and size of the fruit in CA storage. It is hoped that because of better apples in CA storage, demand will increase and prices will be better. SUMMARY Bagged Apples: Reg.
