Conference set Feb. 16-17 UNIVERSITY PARK The Penn State Department of Dairy and Animal Science will sponsor a Dairy Herd Management Conference Feb. 16-17 at the Sheraton-Penn State Inn. The conference this year will emphasize herd health. Research results will be presented by staff members of the Department of Dairy and Animal Science. The featured speaker will be Dr. Graeme Mein of Australia. Dr. Mein is a world renowned scientist in the area of the milking machine and mastitis. Also participating will be Dr. Jerry Jones of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute am} State University from Blacksburg, Virginia. Undertaking all the milk production and marketing func tions, from cow to consumer, has made Larry and John real ad vocates of milk promotion and advertising. Larry campaigned aggressively to get the milk promotion referendum passed in Pennsylvania two years ago, only to have it defeated. He sees the 15 cents deduction for promotiomand the opportunity for a national referendum in September of next year as the brightest spot of the new dairy legislation and hopes other dairymen will support it.
