One of these changes is to send the same inspection team to the same poultry house. This will allow for similar in terpretation of the cleaning and disinfecting. To date, only two houses have passed full task force inspection, Hoffman said. These houses must remain idle for 30 days before the farmer receives indemnity payments and before the houses can be repopulated. Also discussed at the meeting were procedures that need to be completed before the quarantine can be lifted. While Hoffman stressed that this does not mean the quarantine will be lifted soon, procedures, which include collecting data and writing reports on flock sampling and depopulation, must begin now. In other updates: - Three turkey flocks in Virginia were diagnosed with the avian flu virus, although, it had not been determined if the virus was of the highly pathogenic strain. The flocks were marked for depopulation, according to of ficials from the Virgina Depart ment of Agriculture. - An amendment to Senate Bill 87 to provide $1 million in funds for state poultrymen hit with avian flu is still in consideration and is expected to pass both houses. The amendment, drafted by Senator Noah Wenger, Lancaster County, will provide the $1 million in ad dition to $216,000 from the in demnity budget for birds lost through depopulation measures USED TANKS SPECIAL =E!I 1500 Gal.
