She began writing through an experience of being ill, after which she was asked to write a tribut to her husband’s brother-in-law upon his death. She feels now that her sickness at that time was “a time of being called aside in quietness from my busy schedule.” Joan adds, “Writing poetry is a source of enjoyment for me. I pray before I write. I have always liked poetry and I would like to write a book. I would Just write some thoughts and something creative."
