Topaz brought $6OOO from his buyers, Eastern Breeders Inc., United Breeders Inc., and Western Ontario Breeders Inc., of Woodstock, Ontario. Topaz was consigned by H. J. Haga of Fort Valley, Georgia. His sire is T H Big Tex. His dam, McDonalds Darimost Jean, is a Gold Star dam with a cow index of +1407M +.10% +7BF +5232. She Auction A Public Auction of antique glassware and guns was held October 15 by Ammon and Mary Martin in the Lincoln Fire Hall 1425 Lincoln Heights Ave., Ephrata, Pa. There were over 100 people registered for the sale. Items sold were; aqua opalescent peacock carnival glass bowl $425, purple carnival glass bone dish |425, peacock and urn ice cream carnival glass bowl $460, green car nival butterfly and fem water set $430, trout and fly carnival glass piece $lBO, L-C Smith 12 ga. double barrel shotgun $5OO, 30-10 Krag rifle $BO, child’s rocker $45,2 plank bottom chairs $4O ea., cast iron J.D. tractor $lO5, and cast iron grandpa bank $112.50. Auction conducted by John E. & Paul E. Martin, Aucts. A Holstein Production Sale was held October 12 by Clifford Chamberlin, R.D. 1, Shippensburg, Pa. A nice sized crowd attended the sale. There were 25 registered Holsteins sold for an average of $1475. The top cow brought $2050, the 2nd high was $2OOO and the 3rd high was $1950. Ralph Horst was the auctioneer. A Dispersal of 30 registered and grade Holsteins was held October 13 by Virginia and Ambrose Burke, 6 miles north of Meshoppen, Susqueha nna Co., Pa. The high cow brought $l9OO and the average of the registered animals was $1250 to $l3OO while the average grade price was $B5O to $9OO. Auctioneers were Jerry Burke and Jim Adriance. XXX A Public Auction of was sold in 1979 for $30,000. Second high seller in the sale, Clearbranch Jeans N P Satin, was also consigned by H. J. Haga. Satin was purchased by Anchor and Hope Farms of Port Deposit, Md. for $4OOO. Three Holstein cows sold for $lOOO each and open yearling heifers went from $325 to $420.
