Sale records were broken as a record number of animals were sold. The 1,306 pound crossbred grand champion steer, showed by Jamie Espy, Tyrone, was purchased by Delores and Paul Knepp, owners of Miller's Diner at Mill Creek. The champion animal sold for 93.44 per pound. Ron Ruble of the Huntingdon McDonald’s purchased the reserve grand champion for $2.60. The steer was exhibited by Erika Morgan, Orbisonia. Ruble donated the reserve champion back to the club to be resold. Glen Rock 4-H Club Officers were elected at the September meeting of the Glen Rock 4-H Club. They are: Jimmy Townsend, president; Nancy Townsend, vice president; Joann Rishel, secretary; Donna Wilson, assistant secretary ; David Lentz, treasurer; and Tammy Ferree, assistant treasurer. OR TRACTORS Tos-l-84 Finance Espy beef brings $3.44 a pound The 74 beef animals sold brought |60,582.13 for an average price of 80 cents a pound. Total weight of the animals was 73,345 pounds. Auctioneer Mark Click & Co. agent Harold Lockhoff donated their services for the beef sale as well as the other auctions at the 1963 fair. Eighty-one hogs were sent into the ring, making it the largest sale ever. Ronald Briar, R.D. 1 Mc- Veytown, exhibited the grand champion hog. The 240-pound winner was sold at auction to Shaw Packing Company, Newry, for 95.20 a pound. Dick Shaw followed that purchase up with a winning bid for the reserve grand cham pion. The 200-pound hog was raised by Matt Price. He received 93.10 a pound during the 4-H and FFA swine sale. Gibson. Historian is Lisa Rector, and the assistant historian is Christine Lentz. Song and game leader is Gail Rishel, and her assistant is Lisa Gibson. Donna Wilson and Tom Wysocki will represent the club for 4-H king and queen. The next meeting will be a Halloween party on Oct. 29. The club had a family picnic recently at the Chiques Church of the Brethren. The record number of entries weighed a total of 17,630 pounds. They were sold for 912,884.40, which averages 73 cents a pound. The 100-pound grand champion market lamb was purchased by Jumatp Packing Company. Charlotte and Jack Igou, representing the company, paid a record price of 98.80 for the prize winning lamb owned by Bryan Weight, R.D. 4 Tyrone. Lee Hayes, R 1 Tyrone, showed the reserve grand champion lamb. Union National Bank and Trust Jamie Espy, Tyrone, holds the grand champion steer of the Huntingdon Fair. Owners of Miller's Diner, Mill Creek, Paul and Delores Knepp paid $3.44 a pound for the champ. The average price was |1.09 per pound, making the total (3,930.05. A total of 12 goats were sold at the Huntingdon County Fair, which was the first try at a goat sale at the fair.
