Beth Carty, ft You'll Find ALL BUYERS At Your Auction Market Have you ever stopped to wonder just WHY auction market prices are higher than the prices which direct buyers will pay at your ranch or farm? A major reason is the fact that both packer buyers and stocker buyers are present at the auction. If your livestock can go either to slaughter or to further fattening (on grass or grain) you can’t fail to bfenefit by getting the combined bidding "voice” of both types of buyers. Selective packers can purchase the type of animals they need, no discount for livestock not used in their operation. And all types of buyers are present on your auction. They are present because they can save money by buying at the auction even though they will pay you more. The travel involved in visiting individual farms is a major item of expense to buyers.
