Prices on steers and heifers held sharply higher Monday and Tuesday but by midweek, a very slow movement of beef from the coolers and lower beef prices prompted buyers to turn bearish at midweek, nearly erasing early week gains. Slaughter cow prices were lower Monday, but advances in cow beef prices prompted an upturn on live cows by midweek.
