Regionally, she has participated in the Eastern Pennsylvania Beef and Lamb Show and Sale, Lehigh County 4-H Livestock Judging Contest, 4-H day at Magic Valley National Congress and as Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh and Northampton Wool Queen. On the state level, Diane has participated in the State Farm Show, Leadership Congress, Leadership School, State Achievement Days, Keystone Judging Contest, and Penn sylvania Livestock Contest. She has also competed for Penn sylvania Wool Queen and was a representative at Governor Thornburgh's Christmas Ball. Nationally, she has participated in the Citizenship Conference at Washington, D.C. Her special ' honors include winning the Rachel Hoffmeier Scholarship Award, being named Carbon County Outstanding 4-H’er for Livestock, and being Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh and Northampton Wool Queen. “4-H clubwork has encouraged me to become a better com municator with people and the real world,” Diane said of the 4-H program. “I have gained self confidence to help me meet responsibilities in my every day life through 4-H experiences. 4-H has also taught me many educational assets which I use for guidance in school. Another contributing factor is the deep respect I have gained for my community, my country, my world, and for my fellow people of all races, creed, and color.” Lebanon County UNIVERSITY PARK - Lebanon County youths were Lon Reesor, 18, of Rll, Lebanon, for the consumer education award and Deborah Bolles, 17, of RIB, Lebanon, for the dog care and training award. The dog care and training award is supported by Purina Dog Food Group, Ralston Purina Company of St. Louis, Missouri. LORI REESOR A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Reesor, Lori will attend the Indiana University of Penn sylvania next fall to study nursing. As a member of the Avon-East Lebanon 4-H Club, Lori has served as treasurer, news reporter, vice president and president of her club. Her projects have included clothing, crocheting, breads, design, leadership, first aid, and money. On the county level, she has participated in officer training, fashion revue, County 4-H Mall Promotion Week, achievement night, Lebanon Area Fair, Olympic Fair and as a camp counselor. Regionally, Lori has par ticipated in fashion revue and regional achievement night. On the state level, she has participated in Leadership Congress, State Achievement Days and Capital Days. Commenting on the value of the educational youth program, Lori said, “I have gained many con sumer skills that will help me to eventually manage a home. 1 have also sharpened many skills in cooking and sewing and learned many new things such as macrame and crocheting. Most importantly, 4-H has developed me into a more mature and well-rounded person, good citizen and strong leader.” DEBORAH BOLLES A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holies, Deborah will be a senior at Northern Lebanon High School with plans to attend college to study to be a teacher. She has been a 4-H member for nine years. As a member of several local 4-H clubs, Deborah has served as vice treasurer, treasurer, vice secretary, secretary and president. She has also served as vice-president of her county 4-H rabbit club. Her projects have included rabbit care, crocheting, photography, pet care, vegetables, Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 9,1983—817 stamp collecting, horse care and teen leaders. On the county level, Deborah has participated in a mail promotion, Olympic Day, a sub sale, county 4- H fair, county softbaU team, of ficer training, exchange trips, radio talks, vegetable judging, fooderama, a 4-H yard sale and fashion revue. Stressing the benefits of the 4-H program, Deborah said, “Without 4-H, I might have been one of those kids who go to school every day, but learn nothing. I have learned many skills as well as how to get along with other people. I love 4-H and am grateful for such un derstanding parents who spent a lot of time taking me from one place to another.’’ Tioga County UNIVERSITY PARK - Tioga County youths were Deborah Ogden, 18, of R#l, LawrencevUle, for, the health award, and Stephen Smith, 19, of R#2, Mansfield, for the dairy award. DEBORAH OGDEN A daugther of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilbur Qgden, Deborah will be a freshman next fall at Wilkes College majoring in radiation therapy technology. She has been a 4-H member for ten years. As a member of various local 4-H clubs, Deborah has served as president, secretary, song leader, and game leader. For the county organization, she has served song leader, game leader, camp counselor, and lifeguard. She has also been secretary, song leader, and game leader for her county council. Her projects have in cluded flowers, vegetables, foreign foods, outdoor cooking, teen leadership, health, citizenship, local government, macrame, and handyman.
