Outstanding scholars and student leaders were recognized at the University of Delaware’s jecent Honors Day ceremonies. "Agricultural students were among those honored for their contributions to their college and the campus community. Joining the university’s 1983 panel of distinguished seniors was animal science major Teresa L. Hannum, of Chester Springs, Pa. The panel is comprised of one student from each college with outstanding academic and per sonal qualities. Hannum was also named to Phi Kappa Phi honor society and was awarded an American Society of Animal Science scholarship. The Alpha Zeta prize went to Laura A. Depfer, of West Chester, Pa., also an animal science major, as the highest ranking sophomore in the College of Agricultural Sciences. Gemot G. Presting, Wilmington, received the Honors Day book award, which goes to one out standing sophomore or junior in each college. The Wall Street Journal Award went to Lisa A. Kirkland, Broomall, Pa. Each year the newspaper recognizes one student in the College of Agricultural Sciences and another in the College of Business and Economics. A number of agriculture majors also received recognition at the college level. Recipient of this year’s Ralston-Purina Award was David L. Shortall, Centreville, Md. Southern States scholarships went to: senior Stephen D. Richter, Dover; junior Vance C. Phillips, Laurel; sophomore Stewart Ramsey, Jr., Wilmington; and freshman Martha L. Klair, Hockessin. The Delaware State Grange scholarship went to Jonathan B. Harcum, Laurel. The George M. Worrilow Alpha Zeta scholarship was awarded to Jennifer T. Krauss, Mountain Lake, N.J. She also won a Delaware-Maryland Plant Food Association scholarship, as did John M. Ward, Villanova, Pa. Winners of George M. Worrilow scholarships in agricultural sciences were: Jennifer L.
