Herr, chairman of the Agriculture Department and Denise Zim merman-Collins, guidance counselor from Garden Spot High School, took a select group of college bound 9th, 10th and 11th grade students to Penn State University for an orientation visit to the College of Agriculture. Students from the vocational agriculture program at the high school compete to be part of this group. “this year’s visit was the most impressive ever. After a tour of the campus, faculty from several departments hosted a luncheon at the Nittany Lion Inn for the group. In the af ternoon they toured college departments and completed their visit with ice cream from the University Creamery. “It was a great group. I was very pleased with their questions and their interest in agriculture,” said McCoy of this year’s visit. “I hope more high schools will take ad vantage of our visiting program for College-bound students,” he continued. This is the third year Garden Spot High School students have received the VIP treatment from Penn State’s College of Agriculture.
