The contest will involve young people from statewide 4-H and FFA dubs, as well as amateur and professional collegiate judges from Penn State. This year’s cattle judging contest is chaired by Lisa Cooper, senior in dairy production from Rl, Slippery Rode. Co-chairman is Alan Kozak, ’ junior in dairy production from RB, Washington. “The contest gives 4-H, FFA, and collegiate individuals a good opportunity .to gain experience in judging and evaluating the con formation of dairy cattle,” chairman Copper stated, adding that “we encourage young people throughout’ the state to par tidpate.” Today’s event indudes eight dasses to be judged by all par ticipants. In addition, the professional collegiate division will have four oral reasons classes and the 4-H and FFA division will have two oral reasons dasses. Amateur collegiate entrants will not have reasons dasses. Classes win be judged in the morning with reasons in the afternoon. Twdve official Penn State alumni judges will place the classes and score the oral reasons. Awards for high individuals and teams in each division will be presented at an awards banquet May 7, beginning at 6 pjn. at held this spring. The annual banquet is sponsored by the Dairy Science Club. The Dairy Princess Contest April 27 is being organized by last year's Princess, Judith Harding, of R 4, BrookvUle. Miss Harding is a sophomore- in dairy production. Any girl in the Penn State Dairy Science Club is eligible to compete. Selection is based on speaking ability, appearance, personality, poise, and service in the College of Agriculture. The 1983 Dairy Exposition concludes with “Show Day on May 9 at the Penn State dairy barns. About 115 cows from the Univer sity dairy herds will be fitted and shown by Penn State students. This year’s show manager is Don Snyder, senior in agricultural economics and rural sociology from Pitman. Assistant manager is James Hoge, junior in dairy production from Pittsburgh. Also planned for “Show Day” are special events. These include a celebrity milking contest, fraternity and individual milk “chugging” competition, sorority and individual milking contests and a calf dressing contest. This part of the Dairy Exposition is organized by Dave Lash, junior in dairy production of' Rl, West Newton. His assistant is Suzanne Voight, sophomore in agriculture from Lafayette, N. J.
