Omaha Cattle
Thursday, March 31
Report supplied by USD A
As compared to previous week’s
close. Slaughter Steers and Heifers
ended the week 2.503.50 higher.
Cows fully steady. Bulls steady.
A strong demand, fostered by
modest terminal receipts and
shortened packer inventories
boosted fed cattle prices to their
highest levels since July, 1982.
Support was also provided by
advance on carcass and boxed beef
markets and the week’s trade
closed on a very strong note.
Overall finish not too attractive
with many cattle still carrying
considerable amounts of mud.
Early week snowstorms com
plicated the situation, both on
receipts and the condition of
livestock.
Steers'comprised 48 pet of the
week’s receipts; Heifers 34 pet;
Cows 8 pet; Feeders 8 pet. Four
day receipts 7368; week ago 7459;
