That’s the message that a for mer state FFA officer and currently president of the Alumni Association is bringing to FFA Chapter graduates across the state. The goal of the Alumni President, Glenn Wenger, of Myerstown, is the rejuvenation of FFA graduates and friends into effective alumni chapters, which can lend local support to Future Farmers of America activities and vo-ag programs in their home communities. And, Wenger has been on the FFA banquet circuit lately spreading this message to the audiences, which include many graduates and friends of vo-ag. For example, last week Wenger attended five banquets in as many nights across the four-county area of Lebanon, Lancaster, Berks and Lehigh. At the same time, he acted as FFA host and guide for Bruce Kettler, National FFA Eastern Vice President, who was featured speaker at the banquets. Kettler called on his fellow FFA’ers at the banquets to be ready for the challenges that the future of agriculture will bring. “There will be tremendous changes in agriculture in the coming near future,” Kettler stressed at the Lehigh County FFA banquet last Saturday night. “We, in FFA must be ready to take over a leadership role and be ANNVILLE Nearly 250 per sons filled the cafeteria of Ann ville-Cleona High School on Wednesday, March 16, for the annual Perent-Member Banquet of the Little Dutchmen FFA. Don’t be afraid to stick your neck out and take the lead. “And, we must work together - FFA’ers, parents and other adults - to guarantee a smooth transition in future agriculture.” And, this is ' where the rejuvenated Alumni Association Chapters that Wenger is boosting in his appearances would play a key role. “This year, the Alumni Association will take over operation of the leadership con ference for FFA’ers in Eastern Pennsylvania, which is held at PEEC (Pocono Environmental Education Center)”, Wenger explained. “And, we’re looking at a leadership conference for FFA members in the western part of the state,too.” In addition to statewide FFA alumni activities, Wenger is en couraging the formation or rejuvenation of local chapters to support the FFA at the community level. In his home Elco chapter. Wenger heads a new alumni group, which-is already planning a Junior FFA program in the Eastern Lebanon County School District. As is the purpose of the FFA Alumni, the reception brought together the “younger and older” generations of FFA to see how more effective cooperation can be achieved to further the goals of FFAandvo-ag. So, on the banquet circuit and at special events, Wenger is stressing Hoetetter, Jean Morton, Todd Fies, Ton Inman, Steve Riegel and Andrew Baer. Chapter creed contest awards went to Dale Balmer and Kim Moyer and honored for pladngs in the Greenband Contest were Tim Elliott, Kim Moyer and Paul Longenecker. County Judging ' Eric Morton, dairy and livestock; Karl Brandt, Daryl Balmer, Tom Inman, Brian Hartman and Beth Young, land Judging. In state land judging, awards went to Tim Teahl, Todd Fies, Tom Inman and Brian Hartman. The Annville-Celona Kiwanis calf went to Tim Elliott and the Blue Mt. Farms market hog to Kim Moyer. Keystone Medals Donald Baer, Brian Sell, Ed Hostetter and Jean Morton. The Eleanor Witmeyer Award was presented to Brian Hartman.
