B26—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 19,1983 Poultry course on April 6 NEWARK, Del. - The 1983 Delmarva Hatchery and Breeder Flock Management short course will be held Wednesday, April 6, at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury, Md., from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The program will cover a variety of topics in the hatchery and breeder flock areas. Ed Odor, University of Delaware, will talk about killed reovirus vaccines for broiler breeders. Fred Moultrie, of Kennebec Breeders will discuss genetic selection and tradeoffs in breeder development. Larry Cogburn will explain the relationship between chicks’ dietary level and temperature preference. Perrie Waters of Holly Farms will moderate a panel discussion on sanitation and fumigation practices in hatcheries. Frank Wills, of Sterwin Labs, will provide an update on regulations regarding fumigants in hatcheries. B.W. Frank Craig, of Perdue Farms, will explain emergency procedures for hatcheries and breeder flocks during WND outbreaks. Robert B. McHose, of Kennebec International, will discuss management of the breeder male. And the University of Maryland’s Ed Mallinson will describe recent problems and new concepts in mycoplasma testing. The short course is sponsored by the Delaware Cooperative Ex tension Service, Eastern Shore' Hatchery Association, and Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. Interested persons must preregister before March 31. A $l5 fee covers the cost of luncheon and a copy of the proceedings.
